Easy Crock Pot Rice

I love having rice with meals.  Not only is it healthy but you can flavor it and mix things in to make it unique every day of the week.  I love my rice cooker, but in my pre-rice cooker days, this was my go to method for making rice.  I always seem to mess it up on the stove, but it comes out perfectly in the crock pot!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup rice
  • salt
  • 2 cups water (or broth)
  • butter
Instructions
  1. Rub your slow cooker lightly with 1 tablespoon butter or margarine. Or spray it with non-stick spray.
  2. Pour in rice, water and salt.
  3. Cover and cook on High 1½ to 2½ hours, stirring occasionally.
Notes
You can mix in veggies, and seasonings and play with this to customize it for your meals. Just keep the ratio of 1 part rice, 2 parts water.

  1. I tried this just last Sunday when I had 20 people over for lunch. I made a total of 4 batches with 2 batches in both of my 6 qts crockpots. I did find out that it makes a huge difference how long it takes depending on your crockpot, one I had was an expensive one with a clamped down lid and that one got done much faster than the cheaper one I had. It all worked out, I just served out of the one first. Thanks for posting this, it sure was much easier than doing that much rice on the cook top.
