Crockpot Strawberry Syrup Recipe & a Quick Dessert Idea

Strawberries and I go way back. We are best buds like that. I love them and use them in the kitchen whenever I can. So …when I just happened to have some extras in the fridge, I knew that this Crockpot Strawberry Syrup was happening. That also meant that I knew what was for dessert tonight.
These pretty strawberries along with some sugar and a squeeze of lemon got thrown in my crockpot. I used my smaller 4 quart Crockpot for this one.
I gave them a stir and this is what they looked like. Then I covered and turned the crockpot on high for 2 hours, or you can put it on low for 4 hours.
When they were all done it looked a little something like this. A couple notes. I like my strawberry syrup with chunks of strawberries. If you don’t you can totally puree this in a food processor or blender after it cools a bit.
Pour the cooled syrup into a bottle and enjoy. If there is any left store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

I knew what I was doing with my Crockpot Strawberry Syrup tonight. When I ran to Walmart earlier in the week I picked up this Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake. I was waiting for a special occasion but everyday is special, right?! When Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake thaws in only 10 seconds, any time is pound cake time!
Now I could just take a fork to this yummy cake and call it a day, but I am going to dress it up a little bit. My favorite part is it just takes minutes to turn this frozen Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake into a wow dessert.
I put a slice of Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake in a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and poured some of my Crockpot Strawberry Syrup on top.
Then another slice and some more Strawberry Syrup because…..you only live once.
Doesn’t that look heavenly?! It tastes better than any other Strawberry Shortcake I have had, and takes only minutes! I have a feeling I am going back to Walmart to grab another one of these Sara Lee® All Butter Pound Cake to keep on hand in the freezer.
