In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cocoa, and sugar.

You can serve this cake warm or cool. It is delicious with a little chocolate sauce or caramel sauce drizzled over it. Of course, a scoop of ice cream never hurts either.

Gluten Free

To make this amazing cake gluten-free simply substitute your favorite gluten-free flour mix in place of the all-purpose flour. Also, double-check your other ingredients to ensure that they are gluten-free.

Boxed Mix Shortcut

If you are short on time or just ingredients you can use a Boxed Chocolate Cake Mix instead of making the cake part from scratch. Try this homemade chocolate cake mix (YUM!)

Simply mix it according to the package instructions. Continue with the recipe as written.

Tips

  • No slow cooker prep is needed, but for easy cleanup you can line your slow cooker with parchment paper or a slow cooker liner.
  • Mix in chopped mini cadbury eggs into the batter….it’s sinful.
  • Sandwich a paper towel between the lid and the crock to catch any condesation. It will help the top of your cake not be soft. You will end up with a cake that resembles a traditional oven cake.
